Chapter History
Our Story

Gamma Omicron Zeta Graduate Chapter of Northern New Jersey and has upheld the principle of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated since being chartered on March 2, 1953. We have continuously served the Essex County and surrounding communities since our inception. We believe in and fully support the Z-Hope initiative; our Atlantic Regional Director, Janet Biven’s goals and objectives and the New Jersey State Director Anjanette Highsmith plan of action. With over 40 active members Gamma Omicron Zeta, with Salaine Atkins-Little as its current president, sponsors 4 collegiate chapters – Beta Nu, Psi Lambda, Psi Pi, Kappa Phi, and Xi Iota. The chapter also sponsors three auxiliary groups – an Amicae chapter.
Archonette group, and our Dazzling Pearlettes. Every year we participate in events sponsored by the March of Dimes, such as Walk America. We encourage our members to walk and/or volunteer at the Donna T. Darrien Sickle cell walk and the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. We are a life member of the NAACP and a member of the Essex County Chapter of the Pan Hellenic Council. Our members hold leadership positions on both the regional and state levels.
